Question Responce

Why do you think that they chose men to follow and not women? How would the episode be different if it was women?

I think that they chose men instead of women because, first of all they have a really common first name, second men are more alike than women. I also think that they chose men instead of women because women have so much more to take care of, like drama, and the life of being a mom, and puberty, so life for a lot of girls it really different than the girl sitting next to her!

I think that this particular documentary would be different with women than men because of many things. The main reason would probably have to be because of all the emotional stress women go through. Men don’t have to worry about losing friends, because they all seem to get a long way better than girls do! Other than that, I think that they would show them being pregnant, and hanging out with their friends, and the things that they show on this episode would be really different. Especially the shaving the face!

Thesis

I am going to do a thesis on the book that I am reading for the next essay. "The Secret life of Bees" written by Sue Monk Kidd.

Thesis: Even thought Lily is different than a normal human, I think that she should not be abused, or disciplined, she's just a girl.

If you had on year to live, what would you do with your time?

If I only had one year to live, I would do everything I could. First I would probably take a small vacation to Africa. I have always wanted to go there. Ride a Thoroughbred, Sell all of my stuff so I can get money to do this. (well almost all of my un-needed stuff) Start a fundraiser for what ever I was diagnosed with. Other wise, I wouldn't know what to do. There is so much with so little time. I would probably not go so many places, I would rather spend my time with my family, to say good bye and all of that sad stuff! :(

If You Really Know Me...

I really liked the assembly. That was one of the most realizing, and shocking ones i have been to in my whole school life. People were crying, and I was feeling the guilt and pain that I have given to other people. That night I went home and cried, I sent text messages saying sorry to all the people that I hurt or might have hurt. Saying how sorry I was, and I don't like who I have become, and how I am going to try and start over. I have been bullied plenty of times, I never did anything about it. I come to school every day with a smile and a laugh on my addenda, but that is all just a mask, to cover up what I really feel, to be cooler than other people, to be noticed. Sometimes I go over board for people I like, or to be better than my friends, or to get complements. I also lie WAY to much. I do it so I don't have to do things, or make myself look/sound better. If i had a time machine I would go back and do Middle School all over again.

I would share my "If you really know me story" but It is was to personal. I have only told one person, and they promised never to tell. I think that our school did not take this activity seriously, especially the 7th graders. I think that they are just to immature to understand what is behind this, what was the point, and what they were trying to get out of it! For me, I love this assembly, best one of the year, the school should keep on doing this. Just one thing to change, the crossing the line game, they should have asked more personal questions, not to personal but just something to lower the numbers of how many people went out to say yes!

Spring Break Realization

For this years spring break my family and I went first down to Kentucky. We got there on Saturday and stayed till Tuesday morning. Was the best few days ever. If you don't all ready know this, I love horses, Since I was little, I have always wanted to be a vet, but since this past week that has changed.

Sunday April 17th 2011 (2 days into spring break) "Keenland"
That day was the day that I changed my mind about my future. Keenland is a horse track. Very famous part of the triple crown. Its where horses final to get into the Kentucky Derby. That was an experience of a life time. Watching the hoses worm up on the blind side of the track on the jumbo tron, seeing the gates being pulled out, the big green tractors straightening out the track from over night races. That is when you start to get existed, place your bets and get to your seats! When you see the horses being loaded into that starting gates, the crowd gets quiet. "SLAM" the gates open, the horses get to there full speed in a matter of 3 strides. The power of the horses is through the ground, you can hear the rumble, and feel the vibration. I thought it was amazing on how the jockeys stayed so still on the speeding horses, I wanted to learn how to ride like that. So I wanted to be a jockey!

Monday, April 18th 2011 (3 days into spring break) "Kentucky Horse Stables"
This was the day, this is where it all began, this is what I want to do! This was the most memorable part of the whole trip. It plays back in my heal like a short film. Today was so powerful, I know what I want to do with my future, and I am starting to save my money and put it into the bank to keep going with that dream and passion! When we pulled up, it didn't seem like a horse park, but when we got on that tour bus, it started to work my heart, I felt at home there. Horses all around, no highways, not factories, fresh air. I was in my own personal haven! When she started to talk about the history I actual listed, I learned. Normally I do not like that kind of stuff, I don't really like school. But this time I wanted to learn and listen. When We finally got to the Training track, I saw all of the riders riding and training the horses, The tour guide said "Theses are not jockeys, theses are endurance riders, they training and get the horses ready for the racing career that they have ahead of them. My mom asked her how much to jockeys make and how much do these riders make, what is a better life? She replayed back, these riders make more pay, $15 a head, so every horse they ride in the matter of 5 hours, they get payed. Theses horses only train for about 15-20 min. a day. So if you think of it, you could get $300 a day if you make use of your time! A Jockey on;y makes 1/5th of the winning money, you have to be good to get payed, and it is more dangerous. Don't get me wrong, this whole business is dangerous.

* That is when I knew that I wanted to be in the horse/Thoroughbred racing business!

What did I Learn?

1. Slavery helped cause the war because the north was against it and the south was all for it. They did not want to do there own work.

2. Battle of Gettysburg. Started on July 1st and Ended on July 3rd, in 1863.

3. Aberham lincon, he became the president and made tones of speeches and tried to stop slavery.

Writing Process

I liked writing this because we got to write it in anyway we wanted to! I chose to do a journal about a girl that lived as a slave, during the civil war. The only hard part was using bibme.com. I did not like it because it was disorganized, and you had to type everything in yourself. I would rather take them on one note or word, or maybe even write the notes. Even thought bibme.com did the bibliography I would rather to it on bibme.org! The note taking did not help me at all. The easy part was writing the story, because we got to make it up as long as it was realistic. Another hard thing was putting in the foot notes. It was hard to put in facts with a made up story. Also it was confusing to me on how to do all of this, like the footnotes and facts, and note taking. It was all just to frustrating to me. If we would have a little more time, I would have done better and I would be able to get better notes and more! So that is what I thought of this essay's process!

I am a Reporter

Today we are here with a previous slave by the name of Annie Smith!

R: How are you today?
A: Great, just got back from vacation with the kids in Africa.
R: That's great! I am here to talk to you about your experience of the "Underground Railroad." How long ago was it when you escaped from your slave master?
A: I was about 14 when my family tried to run away from slavery. We obviously did not succeed, our master got us back, and killed my mother, that was the worst day of my life. I took shelter in the barn. The next day I did not see my mother nor father. I knew that our master has killed them fro trying to escape. I was to afraid to go back, becasue what if I was next, what if I would end up like the rest of my family. It took me a while to realize that it was my family's dream is to get away from here and be free. I was that last one left, I had to keep going. So I waited to get away and go as far as I can. That night I packed up some canned peaches that were in the barn and took off.
R: That is a very sad story, did you ever get away? Did you ever find your parents again?
A: Yes, I got away my second try, when I was all by myself. The first day I took off, there was blood on the path that I was taking through the cotton. I didn't think anything of it at the time, but when i see these two blob's of red in the distance, to blurry to make out what it was, so I ran. As I got closer I slowed down, my eyes started to tear up. It was my parents. Our master has hidden the bodies.
R: what did you do then? Did you stop or did you keep going?
A: I kept going of course and started to take my fathers hammer and dig a whole that I can put the bodies in. It was hard to berry my parents, but that is what kept me from going back.
R: Well that is all the time we have for today, thank you Mrs. Smith, hear more about the story of a brave slave next time!

Personal Post

The song "Waiting outside the Lines" by: Greyson Chance
I listen to this song more than 10 times a day, on repeat, I just love this song. I like how it makes me think about what he is really talking about in his lyrics. Like he is talking to someone who doesn't take chances and lives inside the box their whole lives,. Also how he can't help them so he is going to be waiting outside the lines "box." He doesn't want people to be scared of doing new things, and not to have hesitations. Even there is no undo button in life, you can always fix it with words, and the truth.

This song makes me think about how, sometimes I don't take chances. How my life is boring. I don't want to be thought of as that, so I am going to try and get over my fears and do things I would never do, and just let my mind drift away and not think about what could happen and what would happen, and just do it. Like I would never ski dive, but one day before I graduate from Pewaukee school I am going to get out there and go up in that Air Plane and jump! Let the experience last. I don't have to to it more than one time, once is enough just as long I get my feet off the ground, and take a chance. There is a whole world around us, just waiting to be explored!
---------------------------------------(song lyrics)--------------------------------------------

You'll never enjoy your life,
living inside the box
You're so afraid of taking chances,
how you gonna reach the top?

Rules and regulations,
force you to play it safe
Get rid of all the hesitation,
it's time for you to seize the day

Instead of just sitting around
and looking down on tomorrow
You gotta let your feet off the ground,
the time is now

I'm waiting, waiting, just waiting,
I'm waiting, waiting outside the lines
Waiting outside the lines
Waiting outside the lines

Try to have no regrets
even if it's just tonight
How you gonna walk ahead
if you keep living blind

Stuck in that same position,
you deserve so much more
There's a whole world around us,
just waiting to be explored

Instead of just sitting around
and looking down on tomorrow

You gotta let your feet off the ground,
the time is now, just let it go

Don't wanna have to force you to smile
I'm here to help you notice the rainbow
Cause I know,
What's in you is out there

I'm waiting, waiting, just waiting,
I'm waiting, waiting outside the lines
Waiting outside the lines
Waiting outside the lines

I'm trying to be patient (I'm trying to be patient)
the first step is the hardest (the hardest)
I know you can make it,
go ahead and take it

I'm Waiting, waiting, just waiting I'm waiting
I'm waiting, waiting, just waiting
I'm waiting, waiting outside the lines
Waiting outside the lines
Waiting outside the lines

You'll never enjoy your life
Living inside the box
You're so afraid of taking chances,
How you gonna reach the top?

The Term Band Geek
What do you think a band geek is. What makes them geeks? I don't think that if people are in band, that makes them a band geek. I think that if you are in band, that you are smarter than a lot of people in the school because you know how to read music, get a sound out of an interment, and put them together you can play anything if you practice. I play the flute, and I am not ashamed to say it, I am proud that I can play and learn. Some people take band just to get and easy A on their report card, then they don't even care and they make them selves look like a fool. Being in band is juts like being in a sport, you have team mates that you work together with to make a goal, and get to know and become friends with! Band is just like any other class, you have to work hard for an A, you have tests, homework, and you have to pay attention to get it! I understand that some classes such as Math or Language arts, you have to work a little harder, but you still have to work for an A in band! So when someone comes up to me and says, "ha ha, you are a band geek," I reply back with "I know and I am proud to be one!" That just shoes the people that like to make fun of the students in band, that we don;t care if you call us that, and maybe they will see that what they say doesn't hurt us in any way, then they will stop!

School
I know a lot of people do not like school, but just think of it. What would u do if you didn't have school? How would you meet all of your friends? How would people get money if they can't get a job with ought an education? Those are just somethings that you have to think about with ought school. There is much more. I think that I would get board because everyday we go to school and it keeps us busy. After a while I think that you would run out of things to do, and run out of things to think of doing. You would have all ready done it! Although everyone could do with ought the homework!

Dialouge Practice

1) Hello mother
2) Hello my dearest Annie, our master haven't awakened yet, I am going to have to start to make breakfast, your father and brother are all ready out in the field.
1) Do you know what we are going to be doing today?
2) SHH, don't talk so loud, we don't want master in a bad mood, and no Annie I don't know what he has planed for us today, all I know is that he has a meeting in town and we need to get his horse ready for him. While we are talking about it, why don't you go out into the pasture and fetch his white horse and clean and feed her. Then when she is done, tack her up and tie her to the loading post out front.
1) Okay mother!
2) (Thinking to herself) how are we going to ever get out of this house, I don't want m children to live the life of me and my husband. I have heard about the "underground rail rode." I don't know if this is true, or if it really exists. Because we can't leave the property, there is only one way to find out. To run away!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Mother, are you there?
2) Yes dear, what do you need.
1) Oh, hello master, how are you today?
3) Wonderful thank you slave
1) Your horse is ready, groomed, feed, and all tacked up, she is tied up to the loading post out front when ever you are ready!
3) (silence, except for the crunch of the burnt toast)
1) (I decided to take out the broom and sweep the dusty old wood floor, because I could feel the small pebbles through my warn out, brown leather shoes)
3) You, slave, get over here
2) (she walks over with percussion)
3) You have burned my toast (he grab's my mothers arm so tight, it turns purple as they walk to the back)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(All I hear is the slam of the back door, a crack, then a scream. It sounded like one of the pigs that my Father butchers every year. Even thought I couldn't see what was happening, my eyes started to tear up, and no more could I see the broom below me, just the sound of the stiff horse hair bristles rubbing across the floor.)
3)Now, lets go back inside and you can empty my pot and take to the farm! (he said with a temper)
2) (all my mom did was walk in with her head down and he hair hanging so all you can see is her nose. I know what she is trying to do, hid her pain, hide the blood. With that, I could see the smallest line drip down to the tip of her nose. It wasn't a tear, blood. Red and thick blood)
3) What are you looking at young slave (with a low and raspy voice)
1) (so I look down, I don't want to go through what my mom had, I mean if all she did was burn his toast, what would happen if I disrespected him. I don't know if all masters are like this, but I sure hope not.)

Civil War Writing Ides

My story is going to be about a young girl that was a slave and she has escaped from the south with her family to head on the underground rail road to get to the north and be free. I have decided that the girl's name is going to be Annie, and she is a slave that works around the house with her mom, and her brother and her dad are the cotton pickers. There is going to be a tragedy when they are trying to escape, but I am not going to ruin it! My story is going to describe the life of a slave and what it was like to be a run away, and what did people back then think of the north. Was it the just like they thought it was going to be, how so? Why did they leave, to be free, to have power, just to get away?

(Stay tuned for my story and see what happnes, put yourself in a body of a slave, experience the past!)

Motivation

I think that most people act because of the money or passion. I mean if people want money, they can do anything other than acting. I don't understand why they choose acting. A lot of the good paying jobs you have to do a lot to get in that position. like if you wanted to be a doctor, you have to go through many years of schooling. Also if you want to be an Olympic medalist you have to work hard at getting that gold and silver mettle's.

I think that some people are more selfish than others, all I know is that I don't like hanging around other people that only talk about themselves. But some individuals always but others, no matter what, first on there to do list before them. Everyone is selfish once an a while. That's just who we are, even if you say u where never selfish, that's lying because every one has done it!

Last year, I really wanted my 7th grade math teachers, sisters, rabbits. She was giving them out for free to a good home, and I asked my mom and she was about to say no, but then I made a deal. If I get good grades and take care of the animals I have now, do you think we can get them! She agreed to this genius deal. I was so excited but I had to get to work right away. For the next week I took care of all my animals and did all my homework and studied for my tests! I got all A's and B's. My mom was so proud, 3 days later we went over to my teachers sisters house and we picked 2 rabbits out of the 5 and we took them home. I wanted them all, but I all ready had 1 at home, I didn't want to overwhelm myself with to much work. I also did a 3 page essay on what we would do to keep this up and how this would work. I did really good on it. I had my 7th Grade english teacher read it and grade it. I got a 97%! That also helped with getting the rabbits.

School Changes

If I was in charge of the school, the 3 things that I would change would be:

1) Homework code: I would have no homework and they would just do it all in school, and if they didn't finish they would do it next class. I would change this because kids have lives and would like to do things other than homework after school, that is why a lot of kids now a days don't do them because they have other things they would rather be doing. (there is only so much sun light)

2) Time School Starts: I think that school should start at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 4:00p.m, because we all know how long girls stay in the bathroom in the morning. Also when people have plans on a school night, they stay out late and then they have to get up really early to get ready so they are not thinking properly and if they have a test they will fail. Then will not go on to the next grade.

3) Resource/Study Hall Period: I think that we should have a longer resource because then we would have time to relax and get ready for tests!

Reflections

I think that our discussion with the class went really well, even though our topic wasn't that interesting or bid. I think that we did good with eye contact and getting the audience involved right away and we knew what we where talking about, and many facts to back our opinions up! I think we did really good and we didn't need to do anything better. The reason Beth didn't talk a lot was because she was gone and she missed a lot so we where still filling her in. At first I didn't like this assignment but when we started to get it and do it, I really liked it and getting n front of the class wasn't so bad!

Elizabeth Taylor, Lifelon Screan Star, Dies as 79

She did on Wednesday in Los Angeles at 1:28 a.m. She was a very famous movie star back in her days. She has passed because of heart failure. She has been in the acting business since she was 8 years old, her first movie ever was "National Velvet", her second was right after the first, "A Place in the Sun," and right after that she was in a movie called "Cleopatra!" She quickly turned from a fragile young girl actress to a very popular and strong actress. In her 70 years of acting, she has been in 5o films, 2 academy awards for best actress for her movie "Butterfield 8" and "Virginia Woolf."

I think that she was a strong actress and stuck to her dream, and what she could make better about her job she did better than she thought!

I have been reading this book called "Dream of Night" written by Heather Henson. It is a really good book and yesterday I finished it! I am so happy because its over, but I'm sad at the same time because I want to keep reading! You would like this book if you like horses. In the beginning was kind of confusing, but as the story went on and clues started to come in the story became more clear. The main character is a 13 year old foster girl by the name of Shiloh. She has been through a lot, her mother being taken away from her, her real father dead and her mom's x-boyfriend trying to take control of her mom and hurt her. The foster home she is in now is owned by a lady names Ms. LiBean, she has been a foster parent for a while, but she hasn't had a child in her home for a while now. Shiloh doesn't like where she is and who shes with, not at all. That is all I am going to say for now, it is a really interesting and enjoyable book. I recommend you read it!

Can Humans ever be Equil?

I don't think that humans can be equal. Just like the story, Harrison Bergeron, if everyone was equal and the same, we would have all of there "handicaps" and there would be nothing interesting and the world would no longer be a fun and enjoyable place an nothing would be out of the ordinary and interesting. The world would be a place where I wouldn't want to live if we where all equal. I imagine the world being all gray, the same clothes, the same cars, even the same names. Nothing out of the ordinary nothing interesting, everything just the same.

Superhuman Power

I would like to have the power of Invisibility. When I was younger I wanted to have the power of mind reading! After thinking it through that if you heard every ones thoughts, it may be personal and you might not want to hear what you want to hear. I chose invisibility because you can be anywhere you want and hear things that are not supposed to be heard, with ought being seen. The only down fall to this is if someone is walking (they cant see you) and if they run into you your power would be reviled. But if someone knew about your power like the government, you can earn a lot of money by going on special missions! This power can be abused and used in good ways! If you use it right, you can do and get a lot!

Are you really Yourself?

Being yourself, important but meaningful. It is very common in this generation to act like someone your not, or be two faced. When you are yourself, a lot of people might not like you, but you are going to have best friends that will always be there for you. If you are two faced, you life is not going to get any easier, its might just get harder! Like you might say something that was your other character to the friends you have with your current character. Be yourself and life will be easier and you can live your life in the light and not that shadows, and you can live your life to the fullest!

THE THREE QUESTIONS BY: JON J. MUTH

  • Based on a story by Leo Tolstoy
  1. When is the best time to do things?
  2. Who is the most important one?
  3. What is the right thing to do?

WHAT IS MY REACTION?

  • I thought that the book, The Three Questions by Jon J. Muth, was very meaningful and had a good meaning to it at the end. I also like how it took him a while and many try's to figure out that he doesn’t have to worry about what he is going to do, but worry about what is happening right now! Although un realistic, the story took you to a place with a strong imagination, makes you think that all that should be important is what is happening and why, not what is going to happen and how. This story made me feel like I had to open my eyes because my life isn’t going to get very far with out my help. So I have to work on going where I want and need to go, to get there. Like collage, and a job. Like how life isn’t going to be the best time all the time, you just have to make the best of it and work for what you want and earn what you need!
